Laurie Carlsen Steger presented a quick overview of ADACAD in her CW 2024 Seminars presentation with Norma Smayda about Bertha Gray Hayes and their collaboration. This was my first look at it and it pretty much immediately looked familiar. It is a Flow Based Programming (FBP) paradigm that looks a lot like the wire diagramming of Grasshopper on Rhino or the effects pane on DaVinci Resolve. Actions or objects have inputs and outputs. Stringing them together creates interesting and powerful visualizations of the weaving-to-be.
I am really, really early into this but am so impressed and excited about how to integrate this into all of my weaving design, not just design specific to my soon-to-be TC2.
Here is a link to the site – highly recommend checking this out regardless of your weaving platform:

More on this as I go along but I made a quick interpretation of one of my watercolors using shaded satin structures in a few minutes and got CRAZY excited about this tool. I am posting it here since it is a painting of Ada, my friend’s granddaughter rendered as a weaving draft in a software called ADACAD. I pay attention to these little coincidences in life. That’s how I retired to weave, was inspired to buy the new loom and have now tested a new software with a few day old painting of Ada.
I can see a way to combine my painting with computing and weaving and the possibilities make it hard to sleep at night.
