A trapeze is used to make winding on faster by reducing the number of times weights have to be moved.
Parts List:
- 2 – 2 x 4 x 8ft studs – pick straight ones. If you have taller ceilings you can use a taller stud
- 2 – 1″ x 60″ steel pipe
- 2 – Pipe end caps
- 4 – M10 x 70 bolts and nuts (make sure they are long enough to go through the 2×4. 70 is overkill but that is what the hardware store had. (Thanks to Jane Eisenstein for noting my bolt size was too short in the original post.)
- 1 1/4″ spade bit to cut the pipe holes
- 7/16″ spade bit to cut the bolt holes
Cut the stud to rest fully on the floor – my husband informs me it was 11 degrees 🙂
Clamp the studs to the loom frame (front beam removed) and mark the bolt holes. Drill the bolt holes to line up with the loom frame. Drill the pipe holes about an inch below the top of the stud.
Bolt the studs to the loom. Insert the pipe in the large holes at the top. Cap the pipe ends to hold it in place.
Be careful – that large spade bit needs a powerful drill and the recoil can be wicked.
