Cathryn Amidei arrived at my house for a 3 day training experience. I learned so much from her. Thank you Cathryn. She showed me how to wind a warp with some finer yarn while I finished threading. More on that in another post.
We installed the 15 EPI reed and loaded a draft that lifted 3 ends at a time to facilitate denting. In the process we discovered an installation mistake I had made so there was a un-assemble, re-assemble moment in there as we resolved the issue. Cathryn is so knowledgeable. Suffice it to say that you should not tighten the bolts until the rails for the modules are installed. The rails were not properly seated in their grooves which fouled up the center section of modules.
Once we had gotten the loom back together we loaded the denting draft once again and began the denting process. Here’s a video of Cathryn showing how to do it – included here with her permission. You will hear the loom fire up and heddles lift, then she grabs the threads lifted with her pinky and brings them through the reed. Wash, rinse, repeat. I will definitely use this trick on my Megado.
Along the way we found some crossed threads and a couple of wrapped threads but those were resolved as we came to them in the same way you resolve them on a regular loom.
